---------------- Features ----------------
Custom Menu So I decided to try my hand at making a custom menu, as the default menu doesn't really fit well in this game. The main menu consists of 5 sections. Item menu, Skills list, Stats, Pictures (which you find during the game), and End. The Item menu should be pretty obvious. The Skills menu shows what skills the selected character has as well as learn new skills. The Stats menu shows the stats for the selected character as well as increase them. The Picture menu will allow you to see the pictures you have found during the game. The pictures are from the Thera Awakening novel itself (Illustrations by Spencer Kipe). The End option prompts if you want to quit playing.
Custom Leveling System Unlike most other RPGs, this game doesn't have levels to gain. Instead, you use Ability Points (AP) to increase each character's individual stats. Stats include Max HP, MP Gain, Attack, Defence, Magick, and Agility. Most of these should be obvious, but MP Gain refers to how much MP you gain at the start of each round in battle (see below for more detail about the magic system).
Magic System based off of
Skies of Arcadia
Skies of Arcadia had an interesting magic system. While in a battle, at the beginning of each round the party gets some Spirit Points (SP) added to a pool that's used by the entire party. This means that if one character used all of the SP for one of their special attacks or spell, then no one else could use special abilities or spells until the SP pool fills up again. I've adopted the same idea into this game, except each character has their own pool. You can increase the amount of MP a character gets at the beginning of each round by increasing their 'MP Gain' stat. The max MP you can get is 50, which is more than enough for the abilities your characters will learn, and your MP always goes to zero after each battle. So don't worry about saving up. You must spend AP in the Skills menu to learn new abilities.
Roaming Monsters Simply put, you can see the enemy walking around on the map, and if they touch you, you fight them. Nothing that hasn't been done before. When an enemy is defeated it will respawn after a short time.

---------------- Version ----------------
Demo Ver. 0.1.1 This release still just covers the first chapter of Thera Awakening. However, I've slightly changed and finished the custom menu. The item menu is complete, all characters can upgrade skills, the picture menu is complete, and I replaced the Help menu with an option to quit playing. I've put in a scan ability for the main character, though it's not used in the first chapter. I've also made a shop starring the lovable (read with sarcasm) merchant from Resident Evil 4.

And for something sort of different, I've made 2 versions of the demo. The first uses MIDI music, and the second uses WAV's of the real music. For those of you who are worried about your disk space I'd go with the MIDI version. But of course, to keep the file size down, I've reduced the WAV's to mono and lower quality. Still not bad in my opinion.
Demo Ver. 0.1 This release covers the first chapter of Thera Awakening. The menu is operational, but some parts have not been completed. Everyone can raise stats, but only the main character can currently upgrade his skills. Only everyone's first special ability has an animation. The picture and help menus are also not complete. The magic system works exactly as explained above. The only monster currently in use is the slime, but like many things this will be changed eventually. Just watch out for the super slime. You can't defeat them.
