Notice: I've decided not to continue making this game. My focus is completely on my Wonderboy RPG now, and once that's (finally) done I've already got an idea for a new one. After thinking it over, I also don't feel right taking someone else's story. However, working on this game has given me some experience in RPG making, such as making a custom menu, which I'll definitely be utilizing in my next game. I'll leave this demo here so other folks can download it and perhaps benefit from it.
Ever hear of a game called Stonekeep for PC by Interplay? It's a first person medieval adventure game (like The Elder Scrolls, only more primitive). It was made back in 1995 and was pretty cool. The game is actually part two of the Legend of Stonekeep, part one being in the form of a short novel called Thera Awakening, which came with the game. I can only assume that 10 years later the game would no longer be available, and as for the book, well who knows. So I decided, why not share the story of Thera Awakening with others. Better yet, in the form of a game. So I started putting this together.
I started working on this when I got stuck on my main project, WonderBoy: The Sword of Legend. This will be a shorter game, but my attention to detail is increased. Since it's recreated based on a novel, the main focus of the game is the story. Moving around and fighting mainly happens between points in the plot, and there is a lot of text. So those of you expecting great gameplay may not like this as much. The game includes a custom menu, and a slightly modified default battle system. I will be following the story of Thera Awakening as close as I can, only adding or removing a few things to help make this more of an actual game.
